***IMPORTANT***
In order to complete this upgrade, we must take down the entire mail system. This upcoming Friday April 17th starting at 9PM (PST), all email-related services will be down for an eight hour maintenance and upgrade period. You will not be able to check or send emails during this maintenance window. This will not affect any of our web or ftp hosting services.
How to avoid duplicate emails.
In an effort to make this upgrade as smooth of a transition as possible, we are recommending that all your email be downloaded to your local machine and removed from our servers to prevent re-downloading of email.
For our POP customers (using Outlook, Mac Mail, etc.) - we recommend that you:
- Download all existing emails before the scheduled outage.
If you are unable to download your emails prior to the outage, don't worry, your emails will be stored and downloaded when the system is back online, but you may also get duplicates of previously-downloaded emails.
- Change your email software preferences to:
"remove copy from the server after retrieving a message-right away" or
"download all messages and do not store email on the server".
By doing this you will have all of your email stored locally and will not have to re-download your email.
- Restore your settings after the maintenance is completed.
Check the notification page at Island Technologies to confirm you can restore your settings.
For our IMAP customers - you do not have to make any changes.
For our Webmail customers - you do not have to make any changes.
Please continue to check this page for the most updated information.
We will send another notice this Friday as a reminder to confirm the specific time for the upgrade, as well as an email upon completion of the update.
If you have any questions about this upgrade, please contact Island Technologies Support
Thank you,
Island Technologies
